During the Future Minerals Forum in Riyadh, Moroccan Minister of Energy Transition and Sustainable Development, Leila Benali, highlighted the global challenges of the mining sector. She addressed issues such as the financing needed for exploration, production, revenue generation and recycling. The minister participated in the ninth consultative meeting of Arab ministers responsible for mineral resources, where she highlighted the importance of an Arab Future Metals Platform to monitor the mining industry. A Memorandum of Understanding between Morocco and Saudi Arabia was signed to strengthen bilateral cooperation in the mining sector. On the sidelines of the forum, the minister met with the Assistant Secretary at the US Department of State, Jeffrey Byatt, to discuss topics related to the energy transition and strategic minerals. The Future Minerals Forum brought together international stakeholders to discuss the future of minerals and investment in the mining industry, highlighting the crucial role of strategic minerals in the energy transition and sustainable development goals.
